The Corporate Comms Shop was set up by Dirk Paterson following 20 years’ experience in corporate communications and public affairs.

Dirk heads up the core team which is supported where appropriate by other senior associates. They have around 20 years’ experience each covering a range of communications areas, such as marketing, events management, web-design, corporate social responsibility and technical copy writing.

I’m a skilled and energetic influencer having worked with CEOs, chairs and brand ambassadors to achieve great results. Strong brand launches, high profile influencing campaigns, incisive thought leadership projects, complex stakeholder management and punchy media campaigns have been my bread and butter: delivered either for clients or as an in-house consultant in the public, private and not for profit sector. I’ve helped organisations build a confident, consistent and authentic voice in line with their business objectives making them ready and secure for a tough environment.

• Built a leading charity in east London as founding chairman;
• Led the corporate affairs function for a leading brand in the pensions industry;
• Served as head of communications for a City trade body

• Set up the public affairs function for a multi award winning financial services PR company
• Directed accounts for several communications agencies with clients ranging from pharmaceutical companies to wind energy campaigners, foreign governments and the not for profit sector

I’m an experienced senior influencer and stakeholder manager. I am project lead on a national pensions client where I deliver an influencing programme across Whitehall and Westminster. I have led on campaigns in the business sector, education sector, think tanks/NGOs and a variety of other clients. A health professional by training, I have worked in the Middle East and Africa, have been the CEO of a leading education and health charity in the UK. I have 10 years experience as a fundraiser. I am a graduate in History from Edinburgh University.

I am an influencer and reputation manager currently leading on a parliamentary and government awareness campaign for a multinational US based Technology firm. I previously worked as an advocacy and campaign assistant for Christian Solidarity Worldwide.  I am a skilled editor, contents producer, researcher and writer. I have produced and edited videos and developed online campaigning tools. I am an International Relations graduate from Leeds University. I am currently completing my masters in African Politics at SOAS as well while consulting for The Corporate Comms Shop in media and stakeholder management.

I’m an energetic market communications professional with fifteen years’ experience. I’ve worked for European companies in the UK, France and Switzerland. I’ve been a marketeer in both established and start-up businesses as varied as stockbroker, Self Trade, cosmetics firm L’Oréal and absence manager Active Health Partners, commissioning and managing all forms of marketing, both above and below the line. I’ve written scripts, produced and presented on radio and I’m an experienced blogger currently engaged in writing the ‘Through the Wardrobe’ blog for the Fostering Network. I offer marketing services to a variety of clients from all backgrounds and have developed a ghost-writing business called HolyGhostWriter.

I’m a creative who specialises in imaging and design in the corporate world. I started out as a professional advertising and editorial photographer in South Africa and joined Scotland Yard as a forensic photographer. I’ve studied various aspects of design and design software and have become an Adobe Certified Expert and Adobe Certified Instructor and have trained companies such as Disney, ITV, Channel 4, BSkyB, BBC, KPMG, Deutsche Bank and News International to name but a few!

I also lecture in image manipulation and design software to honours students in Colchester.

I’m the financial whizz on the team, having had a varied career in investment management and writing. Working for Self Trade, Gartmore and latterly Henderson Global Investors.  I’m an experienced journalist in specialist and consumer press (FHM) bringing technical subjects to the consumer market. I’ve invested widely and successfully in emerging market equities. I’m a CFA Charterholder, the gold standard investment qualification, and consulted to the International Accounting Standards Board on various accounting issues relating to investment. While working in the City I developed a number of mathematical models designed to improve decision making and was instrumental in pioneering a checklist approach to complex investment tasks.

I’m also investigating the link between transpiration and photosynthetic rate in barley as my PHD thesis at Essex University.


Jonathan Elliott

Broadcast Journalism and Video Specialist

 

 

I’m a broadcaster, journalist and documentary film producer with a 25 year career making programmes in over 30 countries worldwide. I started out as a researcher at London Weekend Television, and then moved to the BBC where I learned to make investigative documentaries. I went on to work on Channel 4’s ‘Dispatches’ programme and later specialised in business and international development before joining the launch team of the English language Aljazeera channel. I’ve used my film directing and journalism experience advising organisations as diverse as Nestle and the Church of England on communicating complex messages to diverse audiences. I currently work regularly with the UN, the ICRC, DFiD and BT as a trainer, film maker and corporate communications specialist.
